Article: PRINCIPAL NAMED ACTING DEPUTY SUPERINTENDENT

David Smith, principal of Evans Middle School for five years and a 25-year veteran of the Evansville-Vanderburgh School Corp., on Monday was appointed acting deputy superintendent by the School Board.

He will assist Acting Superintendent Robert Yeager while the EVSC is without a permanent leader.

Smith has the education specialist degree required to be a superintendent in Indiana. The emphasis of his study program at Indiana State University was business, finance and public relations, and before completing his degree last year, he spent two months at EVSC's central office as an "intern."
