Every child deserves a chance to get the best start in life
possible. The first five years of life are critical to a child's
development and lifetime success.
Eighty-five percent of brain development occurs by the age of 5.
By 3, children develop most of their capacity to acquire vocabulary,
which is the foundation for literacy. A 3-year-old's brain is 2.5
times more active than the brain of an adult. A child's capacity to
make social attachments and control emotions begins at 2.
Research shows that a child's environment has a large impact on
vocabulary development. Children with professional parents have about
11.2 million language experiences annually compared with 3.2 million
