When Erik Lis got off to a 2-for-14 start at the plate this season, he didn't panic.

"Worrying about it, that's the worst thing you can do," said Lis. "Instead, you just go out and work hard and try to correct it."

Lis, the former University of Evansville first baseman who plays for the Fort Myers Miracle, has been tearing up Florida State League pitching. By going 5-for-14 in his last five games and 12-for-33 in his last 10, he's raised his average from.190 to.296.

"Early on, I was swinging at bad pitches," Lis said. "Lately, I've been more patient and more selective. I'm waiting for good pitches to hit."
