The poem set the tone for the notes in Bill Hemminger's "The
Chorus of Our Voices."
That's how Hemminger approached writing his original composition
celebrating the Evansville Philharmonic Chorus' 30th anniversary.
"I began by writing a poem, which makes reference to musica
universalis, the original meaning of the word chorus," explains
Hemminger. He also refers to the Friedrich von Schiller poem, which
provided the text for Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, "Ode to Joy."
The chorus sang the Beethoven symphony at the dedication of The
Victory, notes Hemminger.
"My poem implicitly compares music, human voices, sparks and
inspiration."
Hemminger's music, set to his poem, will premiere at 8 p.m. ...
