A GUEST house in Bristol has been branded the worst place to stay in Britain in the BBC1 programme UK's Worst - Hotels?

The Alpha Guest House on Coronation Road in Southville was chosen by panellists from five contenders on the programme last night.

Undercover researchers said that guests faced fines of up to GBP50 for opening windows - and were refused refunds if they spent more than five minutes in the building.

Hidden cameras also apparently revealed a dirty bathroom, filthy bedrooms, peeling wallpaper and a toilet with red paint flaking off it.
