A MOTHER given a blood transfusion following an emergency operation today launched a summer campaign to attract new donors.

Janet Innes, 40, was joined by her four month old son Fraser and husband Simon, in urging people to give blood.

Janet and Simon, from Edinburgh, have given blood more than 100 times and are encouraging others to do the same.

Janet lost more than two litres of blood after going into labour in February.

She told the Evening Times: "Until you actually receive blood you can't appreciate the difference it makes in an emergency.

"It made the world of difference for me. I was able to recover from the operation and the effort of giving birth.
