Article: Double baby killer jailed for 7 years; Mum to stand by partner after dad sentenced over death of his sons

A father who killed his two baby sons eight years apart was jailed today for seven years.

Ian Metcalfe, 34, was found guilty in July of the culpable homicides of two-month-old Kyle Metcalfe in 1988 and five-month-old Dylan Lockerbie in 1996.

Metcalfe, of Locharbriggs, Dumfries, was also convicted of suffocating and endangering the life of a third child, who cannot be named for legal reasons.

Kyle and Dylan had both suffered broken bones during previous suffocating attacks at the hands of their father.

Lord Carloway, passing sentence at the High Court in Edinburgh, said the jury had found Metcalfe guilty of "serious convictions of violence against defenceless infants".
