Article: Glasgow Airport earns (pounds) 700m a year for Scots; New figures show cash generated is twice as high as Edinburgh rival

GLASGOW Airport is contributing (pounds) 700million a year to the Scots economy - more than twice as much as its Edinburgh rival.

Research published today revealed the extent of the airport's contribution and is a major boost for Glasgow's campaign to become Scotland's national hub airport.

The country's economic think-tank has worked out that Glasgow generates (pounds) 709m for the Scots economy, compared with just (pounds) 287m from Edinburgh.

Experts reckon Glasgow Airport also indirectly supports 15,000 full-time jobs, compared with just 7000 in the capital.
