CONFRONTATION has always been the name of Public Enemy's game and,
16 years after their debut album was released, singer-songwriter
Chuck D still rails against injustice he sees around him.
Whether people still listen quite so intently to what he has to
say is another question.
But Public Enemy still have their place and remain the most
eloquent face of black American rap music.
The New York band are here for a UK tour next week, which includes
a date at the Carling Academy in Glasgow on Monday.
Almost two decades of rapping about the American political system,
social injustice and race relations have not dulled Chuck's intensity
