NUCLEAR power giant British Energy is to close its corporate HQ in East Kilbride with the loss of hundreds of jobs.

And there was fury today as it emerged many of the jobs will be transferred to England.

The Evening Times can reveal that British Energy is to close its Peel Park HQ, East Kilbride, which has more than 350 staff.

More than 80 workers will lose their jobs and another 150 technical staff - mostly nuclear and mechanical engineers - will be offered the chance to relocate to Barnwood in Gloucestershire.
