Article: 10,000 Rangers fans head out for Euro tie; Pubs shut and police cordon off Old Trafford in bid to stop trouble

THOUSANDS of Rangers fans arrived in Manchester today for the second leg of the Battle of Britain clash.

The first buses and trains carrying supporters from Glasgow started to arrive in the city centre shortly after 11am.

Police were expecting up 10,000 Rangers fans to travel for the Champions League match with Manchester United - the majority without tickets.

Most of the 3000 Ibrox fans who had secured tickets were on a fleet of official club buses due to leave Ibrox around 2pm.

Supporters with tickets were being bussed straight into Old Trafford from Ibrox in an attempt to avoid the violent clashes witnessed in Glasgow in the first game on October 22.
