An undercover police operation foiled thugs planning to hijack
last night's Battle of Britain clash - as Rangers fans were praised
for their good behaviour.
Around 50 members of the notorious Inter City Firm who follow
Rangers had teamed up with Manchester City casuals to fight with up
to 300 Manchester United hooligans.
But just 45 minutes before the match police undercover "spotters"
found both groups and stepped in to prevent clashes.
The operation came as Rangers fans were praised for their
behaviour by police.
Greater Manchester and Strathclyde Police joined forces to prevent
a repeat of the trouble witnessed in Glasgow just over two weeks ago,
when 26 thugs - mostly from Manchester ...
