HARVARD professor Ed Glaeser, an expert on cities and economic
growth, says Glasgow and Edinburgh must work together to compete
successfully as one of the world's city regions. He also believes
Glasgow will become smaller, but will "shrink to greatness".
Professor Glaeser spoke to Political Editor Brian Currie Admiring the
skyline from a top Glasgow hotel, Professor Ed Glaeser admits that
when he studied Scotland's two biggest cities, Edinburgh came second.
The economics expert, who has researched urban failures such as
inner-city ghettoes and urban successes like the creative revival of
old city centres, is in Scotland to deliver the fourth in the
