TRIBUTE singer Sheila Gott kicked off a new career based on the works of singing star and breast cancer victim Eva Cassidy - then learned she too had the killer disease.

The news came as Gott started touring with her show of the US legend's songs, which hits Glasgow next month.

Gott said: "I suppose my first thought was one of my own mortality.

"On the one hand Eva Cassidy had become part of me, a real inspiration and someone who, through her talent, had shown me the way to move forward in my career.

"But on the other hand, she had died so young. It made me think - and worry."
