A GLASGOW MSP today demanded answers from Strathclyde's top cop
after a report revealed the force has the lowest clear-up rate for
violent crime in Scotland's.
Nationalist MSP Sandra White said something was "badly wrong" with
Strathclyde Police after hearing the force solved just 51% of all non-
sexual crimes of violence in the past year.
The annual report by Andrew Brown, Her Majesty's Chief Inspector
of Constabulary, said Tayside and Northern cleared up 90% of non-
sexual violent crime while Lothian and Borders solved 57%, Fife 72%,
Central 95% and Grampian 64%.
The national average was 58%.
Today Ms White demanded answers from Strathclyde's Chief Constable
Willie Rae.
