Cubs manager Don Baylor was pleased to add free-agent outfielder Darren Lewis' defense and experience Monday, particularly when he needs to sit center fielder Corey Patterson against tough left- handed pitchers. Lewis, a right-handed hitter, signed a one-year deal with a base salary of $500,000 to return to Chicago, where he played for the White Sox in 1996 and '97.
