Longtime Palatine Mayor Rita Mullins is facing a legal challenge
in her quest for another political office.
Mullins, campaign-ing with two others to become Republican
township committeeman for the northwest suburb, will have to answer
charges regarding allegations that she falsified election documents.
The Cook County Election Commission will begin listening to claims
today that Mullins signed about a dozen nominating petition sheets
that were actually circulated by someone else.
Attorneys for one of the opposing candidates, Gary Skoien,
collected more than 45 affidavits from residents who said they did
not see Mullins when they signed a petition for her candidacy, even
