Sharpie, the writing and autograph-signing instrument preferred by
a host of stars and athletes--as well as President Bush--is expanding
its promotional and marketing ties to NASCAR auto racing.
On Saturday, the Bellwood-based permanent marker manufacturer will
announce an initiative called "You Could Win $1,000,000 at the
Sharpie 500." The promotion officially kicks off Sunday with NASCAR
driver Kurt Busch driving a specially painted Rubbermaid/ Sharpie
Ford in the Food City 500 race in Bristol, Tenn.
Details of the promotion will be spelled out on specially marked
Sharpie pen packages. A grand-prize winner will be drawn at the
