Article: Arriva bus fares up 5-per cent in new year But schoolkids' ticket prices will be frozen

FARES on Arriva buses are to rise 5-per cent in the new year - but schoolkids will escape the increase.

Arriva, which runs buses from Renfrewshire and North Ayrshire to Glasgow, is to increase its fares from January 2.

But it will freeze the price of tickets for children aged five to 15.

Kids will still pay GBP1.20 for a day ticket, GBP6.50 for a weekly and GBP25 for a four-week ticket. The cost of multi-journey tickets for children will also stay the same.

But students will pay an extra 10p for a day ticket - to GBP2.30 - and an additional 50p for a weekly to GBP9. A student four-weekly ticket will rise GBP2 to GBP34.
