Article: Social club account used for gambling

The trusted employee of a Nelson-based machinery import company used a social club as his private bank, as part of a $231,000 rip- off of company funds for gambling.

In the Christchurch District Court on Wednesday , Stephen Michael Creek, 45, admitted 81 charges of using documents for pecuniary advantage, and three counts of theft.

The court was told that total funds swindled by Creek over five years came to $231,399, which was claimed as reparation.

Creek, a first offender, was remanded on bail for sentence next month by Judge Stephen Erber, who warned him jail was almost certain.
