Article: School council shakeup in South Loop, Edgebrook Slates push enrollment of more neighborhood kids

A group of South Loop residents who are trying to persuade their
upscale neighbors to consider their neighborhood school swept the
local school council elections Wednesday.
And in Edgebrook, a slate that has been feuding with the Wildwood
School principal was ousted.
These two closely watched elementary school races pitted
candidates against each other over questions of recruiting
neighborhood students.
Voting for high school councils was Thursday.
At the South Loop School, seven of eight parents and community
members endorsed by the South Loop Education Alliance won seats on
the 11-member council. Two teachers elected by the faculty and the
principal also sit on the LSC.
