CHINO - New rules adopted to keep illegal fireworks out of city
parks were successful on July 4th weekend, but more work must be done
to keep the banned items out of neighborhoods, city officials said.
More than 100 Chino police employees patrolled the streets between
8 and 11 on Sunday night to enforce city regulations and inform the
public that fireworks were no longer allowed in city parks and
shopping centers.
Nearly 12,000 illegal fireworks were confiscated during the
patrols, police said.
That number dropped from the nearly 48,000 illegal fireworks
collected in 2003, but fire and police officials said that may be
because so many citations were written.
