An initiative that would impose a 1 percent income tax on
California millionaires could bring millions of dollars to San
Bernardino County for mental health services.
But it all depends on how people vote on Proposition 63, the
Mental Health Services Act.
If it passes, mental health advocates say it would translate into
more than $600 million toward the expansion of mental health services
throughout the state, including services for the homeless mentally
ill, children and seniors.
"We need this and Proposition 66,' said Doris Turner, president of
the San Bernardino Area chapter of the National Alliance for the
Mentally Ill during the organization's annual state conference in San
Francisco ...
