Article: FBI seeking public's help to find 'Goofy Hat Bandit'

His penchant for wearing certain hats made the FBI dub him the "Goofy Hat Bandit."

He has appeared in floppy fisherman hats. Security cameras also captured him wearing a fedora-type hat, a baseball cap and what looks like a driver's cap. Sometimes he wears glasses.

This crook with a hang-up for headgear has robbed 32 banks across the Southland since 2005. The most recent robberies were last month in Whittier and Commerce.

Authorities want to put a name to the face and are asking for the public's help.

"He first robbed October 2005 in Los Angeles, and he's been robbing since then," FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller said. "In our territory, he's currently the most prolific."
