Huge fines and increased enforcement against the use of illegal
fireworks in many Inland Valley cities seems to have deterred many
from using them this Fourth of July.

Now that the smoke has cleared and the acrid smell of black powder
dissipated, many police and fire agencies are doing final tallies.
In Pomona, two men were arrested on suspicion of fireworks
violations Wednesday. A 29-year-old Pomona man was arrested on
suspicion of illegal fireworks possession after more than 2,000
pounds of explosives were seized from a house.
