Article: 'Go after johns,' Daley says; prostitution fines soar

Mayor Daley on Wednesday urged Chicago neighborhoods victimized by prostitutes to get the names and addresses of their customers and write letters, ratting them out to their wives and employers.

The mayor turned the spotlight on johns as the City Council's Police Committee agreed to make the world's oldest profession one of the world's most expensive in Chicago by doubling the fines.

A former prosecutor, Daley climbed aboard the anti-prostitution bandwagon that rolled out of the Police Committee and upped the ante.

He urged residents of Bucktown, Wicker Park and other neighborhoods under siege by hookers to unleash their anger against the customers.
