Article: Man arrested over murder of Joanna

A New suspect has been arrested in connection with the unsolved murder of Joanna Parrish in France 17 years ago.

Convicted murderer Ulrich Muenstermann, who is serving a life sentence for raping and killing a 25-year-old German girl, is being taken for questioning to Auxerre in Burgundy, where 20-year-old Joanna's body was found.

A reliable French police source said: "There is good reason to link him with the murder of Joanna."

DNA found on the bed linen of 24-year-old Sylvie Baton, raped and murdered near Auxerre in 1989, allegedly matches samples taken from 49-year-old German-born Muenstermann.

Forensic investigations established that former Gloucester schoolgirl Joanna was also raped.
