Vitamin E does not appear to boost the immune system, according to
a new study that contradicts earlier research.
The vitamin did not protect elderly people from respiratory
infections. And among those who did get sick, the vitamin did more
harm than good, according to the study in today's Journal of the
American Medical Association.
If the study is confirmed by further research, elderly people
"should be cautious about taking vitamin E supplements," reported
researchers from Wageningen University in the Netherlands.
But for now, don't throw away your vitamin pills. The new study of
