Article: Andrew to cut 800 jobs, consolidate production

Its hand forced by the slump in telecommunications spending, Andrew Corp. said Wednesday it will pare 800 employees, shifting some work from the United States to Mexico and consolidating manufacturing centers worldwide.

The steps by the Orland Park-based producer of cables, antennas and other communications products include closing a facility in Tinley Park and reducing operations in Addison, where the company plans to relocate some staff to smaller quarters nearby.
