Father and son Grenville and Jack Botham have made military
history at a Devon Royal Marine training base.
Regimental Sergeant Major Botham, who is stationed at the commando
training centre at Lympstone, was present when Jack, 17, received
his Green Beret at a passing out parade, making him a fully fledged
Royal Marine.
It is believed to be the first time that a serving RSM has
attended his son's passing out parade at the base at which he is
deployed.
RSM Botham, who is known as Both and has been in the corps for 26-
years, said it was a proud moment when his son was presented with the
coveted beret.
