Article: Police dismiss link with murderer in Genette Tate case

Police have dismissed reports that they are planning to interview a new suspect about the unsolved disappearance of Devon schoolgirl Genette Tate 29 years ago.

The 13-year-old is believed to have been murdered after she was snatched while doing her paper round in Aylesbeare, near Exeter, on August 19, 1978.

The case, which has frustrated detectives for nearly three decades, is Britain's longest-running missing person inquiry.

Reports on Sunday's 29th anniversary of Genette's disappearance suggested that convicted rapist and murderer Peter Tobin has emerged as a "viable suspect" in the case.
