A model collection, amassed over a lifetime, shattered all
expectations at auction by fetching more than twice the pounds30,000
sum predicted.
A Hornby 'O' gauge train set and other collectibles, which had
belonged to Dr Clifford Patrick, of Surrey, went for pounds68,000
after attracting attention from around the world.
Eager train buffs gathered at auctioneers Chilcotts in Tiverton,
with bids also coming in from as far afield as Australia and New
Zealand.
Dr Patrick's love of trains began when he was 10 and continued
