Coeliac disease can cause bloating, diarrhoea, wind, weight loss,
mouth ulcers, fatigue and anaemia. Charlie Gould, 14, was diagnosed
with the auto-immune condition eight years ago
Even a small amount of gluten can make Charlie Gould ill.
And for the 14-year-old from Kings Heath, Exeter, that means a
lot more than just eating gluten-free bread.
At home, for example, she has a separate breadboard and breadknife
from the rest of her family.
On a family holiday to Ibiza, she had to buy her own toaster
because she couldn't use the one in the communal breakfast hall.
She can't eat most frozen chips because they are coated in flour.
