Whistleblower Matthew Harper has accepted a pounds30,000 cut in a pay out from Torbay Council to settle his unfair sacking case.

Torbay Council spent pounds38,500 fighting the case from start to finish and saved itself pounds30,000 in a final wrangle over Mr Harper's pension.

He also has to meet his own legal bills from the pounds182,000 settlement he has accepted.

The bill so far for Torbay Council is pounds222,000 and this does not take account of the cost in officer time and the Bowles report into the issues, which was published last year.
