Iraq war veteran Jane Allen is expected to complete her 1,200 mile hike for charity today when she finally reaches Lands End- raising more than pounds6,500 for the Royal British Legion's Poppy Appeal.

Jane, who lives in Landscove, near Ashburton is a commander with the Royal Naval Reserve (RNR) and is based at Plymouth unit HMS Vivid.

She had just arrived home from a tour of duty in war torn Baghdad before setting out on her gruelling walk in April - on her 50th birthday.

For the last 26 years Jane has combined her civilian job with her part time role in the Navy.
