Torbay Council has offered 'sincere apologies' to the family of a
Torbay resident after a mix-up over the disposal of cremated remains.
It is thought a council employee mistakenly scattered the cremated
remains of an unnamed person in the grounds of Torquay Crematorium -
against the wishes of the family.
A Torbay Council spokesman said: "We can confirm that a deceased
person's ashes were not disposed of in accordance with relatives'
wishes.
"We deeply regret any upset caused to the family, and we have
expressed our sincere apologies.
"We are in discussion with the family, and they are happy with the
way in which the matter is being progressed.
