The sudden and unexpected death of a Newton Abbot chef has
prompted his family to demand answers about his treatment at Torbay
Hospital.
Stuart Dawes, 48, pictured left, had surgery to remove a growth
at the hospital in July last year. Less than two months later he was
dead.
His family also have concerns about his transfer from Torbay to
Yeovil Hospital more than 60 miles away while he was 'gravely ill'
because of alleged staff shortages.
However, Torbay Hospital said Stuart's move to Yeovil Hospital was
due to demand for the eight intensive care beds.
On the rare occasions all eight beds are required, the patient
considered to be most stable can be moved to a unit in a neighbouring ...
