Councillors have condemned the 'black hole' which could face South
Hams towns and villages in less than six months as police pull out of
the traffic warden business.
No-one is ready to take over the job and there are fears of
'complete chaos' across the district.
The police aim to hand over the job of enforcing parking offences
by the end of March, but a coalition of Devon County Council and
South Hams, Teignbridge and West Devon councils will not be ready to
step in and take over the job until at least May next year.
That means towns and villages could be months without anyone on
the streets to enforce the yellow line laws.
