Estate agents in South Devon say the introduction of new Home
Improvement Packs have gone more smoothly than first predicted after
an initial hiccup.
Bradleys' director for the Torbay area Jon Williams said: "There
is no doubt that there was a 20 to 30 per cent drop in the number of
four-bedroom homes coming on to the market in August.
"But now the dust has settled after all the initial panic. It
caused a bit of a hiccup, but how much you put that down to HIPs or
other market factors it's difficult to tell.
"It could have been a seasonal blip, or something to do with the
sub-prime credit mortgage situation in America, or the Northern Rock
worries.
