Article: Johnson part of triumphant teignbridge cup charge

Teignbridge's Roy Johnson top-scored as the former bowlers from Greenhill Way, Kingsteignton, beat Madeira 83-56 in the first round of the English Indoor Bowling Association Denny Cup.

The eight-rink facility at Exeter appears to be the adopted home base for Teignbridge registered personnel this season and while Teignbridge skips Phil Downs (18-14) and Dennis Ball (17-17) settled in nicely, it was the away leg at Madeira that really made a difference.

Ron Basnett, Jeff Tolchard, Sean Johnson and Roy Johnson beat Madeira's Colin Healy 27-11 and Norrie Wilson, Bob Gilpin, Ian Foster and Andy Wickham outscored John Flockhart 21-14.
