Residents say drainage problems on a site earmarked for housing
have left them with a stinking lake of water next to their gardens.
Allison Homes wants to build 63 houses on part of the Ruston
Marconi Sports Ground, off Newark Road.
But people living in St Margaret's Gardens - at the back of the
site - say building would make the flooding worse.
Their gardens have been flooded in the recent heavy rainfalls.
And part of the ground is covered in standing water.
Postman Dave Graham said the lake had formed three months ago.
It was pumped out by Allison Homes earlier this month - leaving
behind a layer of sludge.
But after Friday and Saturday's downpours, the water returned.
