The University of Plymouth has joined forces with employers and
colleges to launch a new body co-ordinating teacher training in the
South West.
Campus chiefs have been successful with a bid to the Government
for a Centre of Excellence in Teacher Training (CETT).
The umbrella body, which is launched on the Exmouth campus on
Monday, will receive pounds363,000 for its first year alone. It
brings together 20 leading local employers and education providers
from Somerset to Cornwall, including colleges, hospitals, the armed
forces and the Prison Service.
