Hiawatha OKs maintenance codes

HIAWATHA, Kan. - The decision has been made and the long-debated property maintenance codes in Hiawatha, Kan., are in place.

The Hiawatha City Commissioners approved the codes a few weeks ago with a 3-2 vote. The decision came after several years of discussion and complaints from several residents who opposed the property maintenance codes.

Since the codes were passed, many residents have voiced their support of the codes, believing they will benefit the city, said Carl Henning.
