The San Francisco Giants have a 10-day period, starting Monday, in
which they have exclusive bargaining rights with manager Dusty Baker.
But after Baker walked away crying from a welcome-home rally
Monday afternoon at Pacific Bell Park, that emotion will be widely
interpreted as another sign his days are finished in San Francisco.
The Cubs and Seattle Mariners are waiting in the wings to dry his
eyes and negotiate a new start for him next week.
I'm sad," Baker told reporters as he walked to a bus after the fan
rally.
Chants of Dusty, Dusty" rang out through Pac Bell as a crowd of
well-wishers tried to soothe the Giants' feelings after their loss
Sunday night to the Anaheim Angels in Game 7 ...
