The lagoon at Krug Park will take on a yellow hue Saturday as
thousands of rubber ducks race for charity.
The third annual Downtown Sertoma Club and Special Olympics Duck
Derby will be held at 10 a.m. The derby supports organizations such
as Special Olympics, Noyes Home, Green Acres and many others.
Melody Prawitz, northwest area director for the Special Olympics,
said duck adoptions cost $5 per duck. A flock of 15 ducks can be
adopted for $50.
"Last year, we netted $34,000," Ms. Prawitz said. "We adopted
5,160 ducks."
The grand prize to the owner of the winning duck is a 12-foot pop-
up camper, donated to the derby by Paul's RV. Other prizes include a
