Article: Savannah School District raises base salary 3.2%

SAVANNAH, Mo. - The Savannah School District Board of Education approved a 3.2 percent increase to the district's base salary for teachers during a special board meeting Thursday night.

The increase, which is $800, will raise the district's starting salary to $26,300 from $25,500.

"We're happy with that," said Tami Pasley, chairwoman of the salary and welfare committee and a fourth-grade teacher at Helena Elementary School.

The committee had asked board members to approve a $900 increase to the base salary. Don Lawrence, superintendent of schools, recommended a $750 increase.
