KANSAS CITY - Kansas City reliever Brian Shouse made early plans
for Tuesday, the Royals' first off-day of the season.
Shouse planned to watch the new movie "The Rookie," the Disney
true story of Jim Morris, a 30-something dreamer who wound up living
out his dream in the big leagues.
Shouse figures he can to relate to the story.
It's been more than 4,000 days since Pittsburgh drafted Shouse, a
left-hander, in the 13th round of the 1990 June Free Agent Draft.
Only 66 of those days have been spent in the major leagues.
He's been to spring training 13 times. Until this year he had
never opened the season with a big league club.
