Sure, milk does a body good.
But it also can do a number on those who have lactose intolerance.
Since childhood, Rose Justus has not been able to consume milk and
some milk products without becoming nauseous.
In her 40s now, she's used to the changes she's had to make in her
diet, but she still has to watch out for hidden dairy in food when
she's cruising the aisles of the supermarket or eating at a
restaurant.
"If I go someplace and order something with gravy, I always have
to ask if I can have brown gravy instead of the white, cream kind,"
says the St. Joseph woman, who is a salesperson at A-Z's Freshair
Fare Natural Market.
