Alice De Rossi captures the world most of us take for granted.

There's a sense of joy running through the Atchison, Kan., resident's paintings, which are filled with images of happy children, colorful landscapes and intricate renderings of historical sites. And by talking with her, it's clear the title of De Rossi's new show at Atchison's Muchnic Gallery, "'Tis a Fabulous Planet," is as much a reflection of her personal philosophy as a description of her work.

"I paint what I love, and I love what I paint," she says.
