As the 139th Airlift Wing celebrated the completion of two
construction projects Thursday, military leaders were keeping an eye
on several new projects that would improve Rosecrans Memorial
Airport.
The Wing is waiting for word that Congress has passed the
Department of Defense appropriations and spending bills and that the
president has signed them, said Lt. Col. Sam Barber, the 139th
Airlift Wing's civil engineer. The two bills contain $8.5 million for
construction of a new air-traffic- control complex.
Funding of the project would move the Air Traffic Control Squadron
to the north side of Rosecrans, where military leaders want to move
the entire Airlift Wing.
